Minimal in its form, complex in its structure, the Collier Memorial stands in solemn testimony to the young fallen and much beloved campus officer, Officer Sean Collier.

Designed by Höweler+Yoon, the memorial features five free-standing granite walls, meant to symbolize an outstretched hand and to echo Sean Collier’s generous spirit. Inserting the memorial form into an existing campus plaza required a careful investigation of circulation patterns, grading, materials, and sub-grade utilities. A gradient pavement pattern was established to help knit new pavers with the existing campus pattern. Siting the three trees required careful evaluation of the sub-grade conditions to ensure optimal conditions for growing.
